What ever happenned to managed copy?

Pardon my naivety here, I'm sure this has been addressed more than once elsewhere on the forums...

For all the chatter on the web about this years back, and how managed copy was suppossed to be implemented by 2009, which then got pushed ahead to 2010...supossedly because all the blu-ray players manufactured up until that point did not contain the capability for managed copy (at least that was the main reason I thought it never got implemented). This is never going to become a reality at this point...right?

Managed copy was dead to me once they announced they would have 3D but still did not implement managed copy.

It was also not managed copy, but MANDATORY managed copy. It was a REQUIREMENT to be able to move your content to a media server.

Its always about the almighty $...

More than likely, the return on investment for MMC isn't worth it (especially at this point)... so with no current financial incentive to implement it... MMC never happens and eventually everyone forgets all about it.

Funny that the word 'mandatory' was ever even used, because that would actually require someone to enforce it

I dont think any of us ever believed they would implement it; though I think we hoped they would.
