What does Kaleidescape do with trade in equipment?

Hi guys,

Just had a random thought and I can't think of an answer so I though I should ask.

What does Kaleidescape do with equipment that gets returned to them? Be it for warranty, new equipment that was returned, or most importantly, the traded in items.

Do they simply shred them as e-waste or do they do something with the parts inside like sell them as refurbished units or use them for repairs?

I was thinking it would be nice to sell official refurbished equipment at a deep discount with a shorter warranty period as a way of being greener to the environment. Maybe they don't want to deal with the higher failure rates of refurbished units?

Sorry to ramble on, but there are just my thoughts.

K already offers remanufactured components, but only as a purchase/exchange (meaning you buy the -R component and return a defective OOW component).

They do not sell used or remanufactured components in the normal course of business, and given the small numbers that might be available from time-to-time, it probably doesn't make sense to open a second market in remanufactured gear.

They did sell the used equipment at a discount once, with the old 5U servers. I think otherwise, they take the trade-in gear and use it for refurbishment/repairs.
