Hi, apologies if everyone already knows about this but if you have the Alexa Voice Remote Pro there is a neat feature that I didn't realise was there despite already having two of them in the house.
It has two customisable buttons marked (unsurprisingly) as 1 and 2. These can simply be programmed to replicate any voice commands that the Alexa executes for you or any routines that you are able to 'assemble'. This has come in extremely useful for us because there are lots of occasions in the cinema room when it's hard work trying to get your Alexa voice commands understood over the top of say the movie or 'guests of all ages'.
So we already have Crestron control implemented over our Lutron lights and those commands are available to Alexa in the normal 'voice operated way'.
So to setup these buttons all you have to do is use the desired command with your voice and then go into the remote configuration and select what you want each button to do for you. The options will be obvious things but also cunningly 'the last voice command that you issued' will be displayed as one of those options.
So for me - I have just chosen two different light settings for the 2 buttons. They toggle on and off (Because our Crestron command is setup that way too. We don't need that with the Kaleidescape so much because it already triggers the lights for us but it's invaluable for any other box and tbh we don't always want to pause the movie but we do need a little light (for the nervous ones in the room).
Apologies if the above takes careful reading to understand but the simple thing is that if you have a couple of voice commands that you would find useful to use by pressing a remote button then the Alexa Voice Remote Pro has them.
As Alexa has a very simple routine setup that spans multiple systems it can be deployed to do quite sophisticated things with a single press if for whatever reason you prefer to do that rather than say it aloud or more likely, for practical reasons that is not easy.
Found it invaluable.
