I haven’t see Tron Ares yet, but a friend with an impressive theater system said he watched Tron Legacy and Tron Ares on K back to back and that the sound on Ares was underwhelming compared to Legacy. Any thoughts on this?

Disagree. I thought Ares was an audio demo from start to finish. The bass may not be as overdone as the pre-Atmos Legacy track, but I'm also confident enough in my manhood that I don't require massive bass to equal a great mix. I think a great mix is a great mix, and Ares is a great mix as it is. It's not at all weak in bass levels, it's very active and dynamic. It's in your face.

Ok thanks! It’s in my cue so I’ll be watching it soon.

There is a long review and thread on AVS Forum on the Tron ARES disc and people have commented on audio extensively. You may want to go over there and check it out as many are agreeing with your friend on audio quality.
