The Shallows Disc-to-Digital

While Disc-to-Digital seems to be available for the movie "The Shallows", for some reason, if you put a Blu-Ray in, the HD version is priced at...$18.99! Anyone know why this might be?

More info - even though the title is listed as UV-enabled, the BR doesn't give you UV rights.

However, if you enter the UV info on Sony's site, and add it to your UV library, it unlocks the HD download and the UHD download as well.

Weird.

When you look at a movie on the Movie Store, there are two things to look for. One is the UV logo on the left. This means that the movie is UltraViolet enabled, and if you purchase it from the Movie Store, it will be checked into your UV locker (and conversely, if you check it into your UV locker, you will be able to download it).

The other thing to look for, just above the name of the studio, is the "Disc to digital" line, which will tell you if that movie is eligible for a Disc-to-Digital transaction.

These are similar concepts, but not identical.

If Disc-to-Digital is available for a movie, it's typically $1.99 to download the same resolution movie (e.g. Blu-ray quality for a Blu-ray disc). But, if the disc comes with an UltraViolet code in the package that you can check into your UV locker, the download is at no charge.

You may find that movies that come with the UV code in the package are sometimes not enabled for Disc-to-Digital, because the studio has already provided a means to get the digital copy.

In this case, Mike, the store had both UV and Disc-to-Digital. But when the Blu-Ray was imported and in the vault, the UHD copy showed up as $13.99, but the Blu-Ray, already present, was $18.99. I would have expected the latter to be $1.99, but it was at full price. And as I said, even though it said it was UV enabled, it gave no UV rights when imported.

The UV code, entered at Sony's site, "unlocked" free downloads of all three resolutions.

This seems to not match what you're suggesting above, since disc-to-digital wouldn't work even though it's in the store (at least, not same-resolution)...unless a $19 fee is considered normal in this case (more than the cost of the Blu-Ray).
