Just curious how many on here will buy the Odyssey and what your take on its audio/visual presentation will be/is? I’m seeing some reviews on the 4k sinus disk version and apparently there is a more expensive limited edition steelbook version as well as the $300 gift set.

Also, since it’s a Nolan film, I’m guessing there won’t be any Atmos but any chance for DTSX? Do we know what aspect ratio is coming to Kscape? Will the hdr version or DV version look better?

I’m just curious how it will look on Kscape non 4Kc since it was an imax movie. Thanks!

Sinus disk?

I’ll be buying it on the ‘Scape because the UHD BD releases outside North America are as much as twice as expensive  I wanted to add the latest Nolan to my UHD Nolan collection, but I can’t justify it.

Since I don’t have a scope screen I usually buy the discs of Nolan films and D2D the K version, but it looks like this has a reasonable chance of being 1.78 on K. That it’s also cheaper than the 4K BR would make it a no-brainer for me, but I’ll be waiting until the jury’s out on aspect ratio.

I would think DTS 5.1 is virtually guaranteed.

Thought I read that aspect ratio is fixed across all formats at 1.78

I’ve come across the same info, which appears to be credible. I’m simply waiting for it to be confirmed on the K store given the historical disparity between disc and digital versions.

The press release for The Odyssey’s home video release, and all subsequent “articles” based upon it, confirmed 1.78:1 for each disc format but did not list an aspect ratio for the digital release. I think it’s safe to assume it’ll match the discs but technically this hasn’t been confirmed.

But if it matches the disc, how will they get people to buy twice?

Oh, a limited edition Steelbook and a $300 gift set. Got it.

;)

Well, maybe not the $300 gift set, but the physical copy intrigues me because of the suite of special features. Not sure if those will be available with the KScape version. Is there a way to know which extras are included with a movie before purchasing it? It doesn't seem like there is, but wondering if I'm missing something.

Yes, this is detailed in the aforementioned press release which can be found here:
There will be 12 in-depth special features across the making of the film that will be available in all formats.
These additional special features will be exclusive to the physical discs:
  • The Journey of Film on The Odyssey: What happens to the film once it leaves the set.
  • IMAX Exclusive Prologue
  • "When I'm Home" Music Video
  • Trailers

Thank you for the info. Very helpful!

I pre-ordered the day it came out.
I saw it in IMAX, it had tremendous audio, but the video portion was a little blurry compared to my theater. So during the movie I kept thinking I wonder what it will look like at home.
I did not see it in a 70mm IMAX theater as a disclaimer.
Can’t wait to see it, perfect for Thanksgiving week.
