The Da Vinci Code 4k?

Interesting. I always thought platforms received a file from the studio/distributor and didn’t custom-encode. Thanks for the info.
All the digital stores get the same mezzanine files and encode to their needs.

So, of the "Original 10" 4K SDR titles from Sony in 2016, this year has delivered 3 updates: Lawrence of Arabia, The Patriot, and The Davinci Code. We are still missing Dolby Vision (asset) updates for:
1776
My Best Friend's Wedding
The Brothers Grimsby
It Happened One Night
The Mask of Zorro

The Way We Were

I think you need to add The Guns Of Navarone to this list.

You're correct that my list is outdated as there are additional titles that have received HDR/DV upgrades like The Last Detail. Unfortunately, The Guns of Navarone is not one of them as it's still limited to SDR digitally.

I'm a bit confused by your comment. Isn't the 2023 Steel Book of The Guns of Navarone in DV? Plus it seems to have a Dolby Atmos soundtrack. The version I have on my Strato V is 4K SDR but does not have either DV or Atmos. Are you saying that the version with these two features is not available to Kaleidescape? I only ask because the movie is one of my favorites and I'd love to own the version with DV and Atmos! Thanks in advance for the clarification.

There was an earlier 4k uhd that just had HDR. Then Sony released a Steelbook in 2023 with Dolbyvision. Based on reviews Steelbook picture and sound quality is an improvement on the earlier disc. Kaleidescape only has SDR. I checked Apple TV and it also only has SDR.

So if you want the best quality presentation, I think Steelbook is the way to go.

Guns of Navarone is one of my favorite WW2 movies as well. The 4k Steel (with DV) is the definitive way to watch this. I have both the 4k Blu-ray releases fwiw. The atmos mix is outstanding (on both of them).

Correct, Sony has not made the Dolby Vision + Dolby Atmos version available digitally. It is only available on disc.

Going to have to add this to my classic movie watch list. Glad K has a lot of good quality classic movies.

Thanks to all of you who responded to my question about The Guns of Navarone. It seems like I need to get the 2023 Steelbook version. It is pricy but from what all of you are saying, it appears to be worth it. I may just have to bite the bullet and get it! :)
