Strato Audio Output Question

Hi guys,

Recently installed Strato, talking to several 4k tvs over an Atlona Matrix (AT-UHD-PRO3-66M)

Sources on the Matrix include Sky boxes, Apple TV and an Nvidia Shield, all of which are outputting multi-channel audio to the TVs (and the Shield is doing 4k 60hz with bitstream).

However no combination of Strato settings seems to get me more than PCM 2.0 to the TV. I've set Atlona EDIDs to 4k 60 multichannel, which gives no audio ,no matter the strato setting. The only way to currently get Audio to the TV at all from the Strato, is to have it decode and the Atlona set to 4k 60 2Chn, then I get stereo at the TV. Obviously a big selling point with the Strato is the 'full' BD sound track, which I'm missing out on.

I've my installer on the case also, but was hoping someone else might have hit this particular speed bump?

Thanks so much in advance!

Are you sure that the EDID that is set in the Atlona matches what the TVs are actually capable of receiving?

For example, if you set the Atlona to say that it accepts Dolby TrueHD, but the TV can only accept Dolby Digital, you could get no audio at the TV.

Of the other devices that you've listed, I think they most commonly output formats like Dolby Digital Plus or DTS, as opposed to lossless formats like Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD MA.

Many thanks indeed Mike

That was it! The default Atlona EDID of 4k 60 Multi-Chn wasn't passing through the full data. With the Atlona 'educated' and the TV's own EDID stored, the Strato is now zapping full bitstream to the TV(s) and they are handling the lossless formats beautifully!
