storage capacity

I have a 2500 server. Am I right in that only 750G and not the new 1TB storage disks will work in this server? If so, should the price of a new 750Gb the same as a new 1TB, as my dealer has quoted me? What prices have you been quoted?

Thanks.

I'm afraid the answer is yes to both quesitons. The 5U server has no drives larger than 750gb, and never will. That server uses PATA (parallel ATA) and no larger drives ever became available. The 1U and 3U server uses SATA (serial ATA drives) which is a newer system that has larger drives.

With fewer and fewer PATA drives being produced, prices probably won't come down much from suppliers, and while Kaleidescape could certainly trim their healthy markup on these drives, they've not shown any inclination to doing so.
