Star Trek: The Motion Picture pre-opening credits

So I've never seen the original Star Trek before. Watched it today. The way K-store HDR download plays is: music over a black screen for a couple of minutes, then the Paramount logo, opening credits, film continues. While I was staring at the black screen I wasn't sure if something happened to my projector or not! So I was googling and it says the opening section shows us floating through space. Is that accurate? Does the K-store version contain this "floating stars" footage over the opening music or is it a black screen??

Black screen is correct. The original theatrical presentation in 1979 played the orchestral theme music while the theater lights were still on, as a que to be seated. Kaleidescape's version is correct.

As I recall, if you want to skip this prologue opening, you can chapter skip forward to the Paramount logo.
