Im not sure if you have to setup the M500 to "decode in the player" which I believe is the default setting, or try "bitstream". You may have to try both to see what works. The goal is to get the coax or optical output of the player to send a bitstream containing the DD or DTS signal to your TAG.

I just read a response from Tom in another thread which leads me to believe you want to tell the player to send the "bitstream" and then you use the coax or optical output of the M500. If you use "player decode" then the player would decode the audio, and then reencode it to DTS for the optical/ coax. That probably will be not as good.

Run a coaxial (preferred) or optical cable from the M500 to your TAG- as if the M500 was just a DVD player. Both the new advanced high res audio formats have an audio core that is lossy. The player will pass this "core" along to your TAG which should decode it. From my own unscientific tests, the core of these new formats sounds better than DD/DTS from DVD. Hope this helps.
