I attended a release meeting yesterday for Sony's new models for 2024. The only disappointment was the lack of a new model in the 98" or larger screen size. I've got clients waiting for an OLED in a 100" sized display. One decided to take the currently available 98" 90L model, but he really debated taking the new 85" Bravia 9.

They are also changing model identifiers, the new models are Bravia 3, Bravia 7, Bravia 8 (OLED), and Bravia 9 as the top display. The Bravia 9 is absolutely the best model Sony I've ever seen. Not as good as seeing it in person, but here's a video link to the new line for those that haven't already seen it.

I went to a combined Sony event the other day. The Bravia 9 sounds amazing. I wasn't planning on a new TV this year, but I'll be looking hard at the 85" Bravia 9 and the 83" LG G4.

Agreed, it actually looked better than my largest OLED, although I acknowledge they weren't side-by-side. I've already ordered on my Sony Dealer site, but not sure when they'll actually ship, I'll be checking with TD Monday.

Thanks Jim.

Should we be disappointed the Bravia 9 is not OLED? Or the new tech is that much better??

I think the additional light the Bravia 9 has available, and the improved processing, Dolby Vision, etc., brings a much better viewing experience than prior years models, especially with the better Blacks and colors in the 9, and many other features that improved performance. Personally, I easily prefer the Bravia 9 over any OLED.

I think one indication of the perceived value of the Bravia 9 versus OLED, is the pricing. Sony has the Bravia 9 priced $500 higher than the same sized Bravia 8 (the new OLED model).

Good to know. Been wanting a larger set and my viewing is in a bright room. 85” sounds good to me. Thanks again
