Shogun

I really enjoyed the book years ago and have been reading good reviews of the new Shogun series on streaming Disney+. Seems like a picture I might like on K someday if it were to make an appearance. Any guesses as to whether K is likely to get the rights to this eventually?

I Hope so, according to a friend playing one of the lead roles, it is well done. I haven't watched any of the episodes and will likely wait until all the episodes are available to be watched as one long movie.

I was just commenting in a separate thread yesterday that I'm a fan of these types of movies, in particular Taiga drama's based on real historical characters and their stories. One of my favorites was a TV mini-series called "Taiheiki," the story about the Ashikaga Shogunate in 1338 Japan. The lead actor in that series, Hiroyuki Sanada, is a former martial arts workout partner in Kyokushin Kaikan, a form I moved to from Goju-ryu, with Shinichi Chiba ("Sonny" to others). We occasionally met for Kendo practice as well, but I always viewed those lessons as geared toward developing a correct posture and feel for the movement required to bring authenticity to action scenes in Chanbara (some say Chambara) focused films.

Anyway...he has a leading role in this new Shogun as well, so I hope we eventually get it on K.
