Ok, so out of curiosity ...my theater setup is as follows:
-Harmony Elite w/hub.
-Marantz Cinema 30 AVR
-Strato V
-Apple TV 4k
-Zidoo Z30
-PC(Nuc)
-JVC RS100 Projector.
-GE Window AC (smart)
-Kasa JL135 Wifi Lights
-Kasa KL420 Smart Light strip.
-Amazon ECHO.
Harmony is setup with Activities for Watching Kaleidescape, Watching Apple TV, Watching Zidoo, Using PC.
Each activity turns on the projector, the source device and sets the Marantz to appropriate input
I then have Alexa routines for each Harmony Activity that triggers the activities as well as turning on the lights, turning on the AC and setting its temp, etc.
"Alexa watch a movie" or "Alexa turn on theater", triggers the K routine.
"Alexa, watch TV" triggers the Apple TV routine
"Alexa, use PC" triggers the PC routine
"Alexa, use Zidoo" triggers the Zidoo routine.
"Alexa turn off theater" triggers routine which turns everything off.
I then have Home Assistant setup to monitor the Strato V, Zidoo and the Apple TV for play/pause/intermission/credits, etc and execute various light dimming automations based on state.
This was all extremely easy to setup with Harmony, Alexa and HA. With my devices the Harmony activities were extremely easy...add devices, create activity. I had no need to mess with timings or delays or anything like that...they just worked out of the box so to speak.
Can this be done with the Unfolded remote? and if so can it be done natively or am I gonna require d/l or wait for bunch of user created things to make it work?
Here's what people need to realize. Harmony isn't doing anything exceptional or out of the ordinary, nothing that isn't being done elsewhere, and often better. It's just had a very long time to build its database.
Some of the integrations are built by Unfolded Circle and can be installed/configured directly from the remote itself. There is another directory on the UC Discord channel that has a bunch of community-developed integrations that are very simple to download and install.
On top of those, there are many UC integrations available by searching GitHub because those developers haven't added them to the Discord directory yet.
There are already several more integrations available today than there were a month ago. The more people who receive these remotes, the more integrations will become available.
Google is your friend. It's not hard to find this information. Harmony is not the end-all-be-all of remotes. In many ways it's outdated. And it's cheap plastic garbage construction.
Compile a list of your devices.
Unfolded Circle native integrations are best for control.
Home Assistant integrations are almost as good for control.
IR learning is possible for anything not covered by an integration.
If your automation is working in Home Assistant, my advice is to keep it there and just use the remote for control. That way whatever remote you pick up and use will still trigger your automations.
I'm not sure why I've compiled all this info below, since a quick look at the
official Unfolded Circle website would show a pretty decent list of what is currently available and tested.
You have Home Assistant. You'll be just fine.
There are integrations available for the
Marantz,
AppleTV,
JVC,
Zidoo. There's a
Home Assistant integration that allows you to bring controls from Home Assistant into the remote. Kaleidescape is 99% done, and available to use.
I don't know about the PC, AC, lights or Alexa. Again, if you can use it in HA, you can control it with the Unfolded Circle Remote 3.
I'm pretty sure there's still an integration out there for the Harmony Hub that allows you to use the UC remotes to activate Harmony routines.
