Premiere -> Encore Home Movie Import Question

JerryL

Well-known member
Right now when I have home movies I can burn them to BR and import them to my Premiere system.

As I understand it, if I upgrade to Encore the ability to import commercial disks goes away. Does that also apply to home movies?

If so, can anyone (Mike? :) ) speak to some kind of work around for importing home movies?

I realize this is probably a secondary concern but I think there are a few of us at least who enjoy having home movies available via our K system. Also, any thought on importing 4K home movies? (Jumping the gun on that one but one day we might like it)...

Hi Jerry,

Encore systems currently don't import any discs.

Are you familiar with the Premiere -> Encore upgrade plan that we announced late last year? It's planned for release later this year.

Read that linked document for details, but the capsule summary is that you keep the core of your Premiere system (which maintains its import capability), and the Encore system will be able to see and play all of the imported content that resides on the Premiere system. It seems like that would accomplish what you're looking for (with the exception of 4K content).

Thanks Mike. I guess I wasn't familiar enough with the plan! I don't think I read the document I just remember our discussion. I just read it- thanks for putting that document together- I think it is very clear.
