NEWS: New K Strato-S

I am excited about this. I would like to put Kaleidescape into our RV.

My observation is when they come out with a line, the basic technical features such as decoding remain fixed. I'm not sure if they would need new hardware to handle DV but I think they would as I understand DV needs a lot of processing. My advice is hope for these things but if you are building a system, don't hold your breath.

Also, the power is 12V. It has a converter to step down household current. I think that if one wires 12V 5A to it, you can skip that conversion altogether and save even more space.

Yes, that could work, but keep in mind that the 12V systems on RVs are typically just unregulated battery voltage that could range from 12V-14.5V.

Other noisy devices kicking on and off could affect the Strato, which is probably designed to get a nice clean 12V supply from the AC adapter.

It would be wise to get some kind of filter/isolator/DC-DC converter to protect it. I think that these are also common in the marine world, but I don't know of any specific product to recommend.
