Audio is miles better (coming from someone who has watched Encanto and other Disney titles 100+ times) because it is lossless audio, video is also better because there is no compression.Looks like a lot of good Disney content is on sale. Have any of you compared some of these titles to DisneyPlus? Is there a significant quality difference?
Thanks. This seems similar to the differences with other streaming services. I also like that DisneyPlus has IMAX screen ratios for some of the Marvel content.Audio is miles better (coming from someone who has watched Encanto and other Disney titles 100+ times) because it is lossless audio, video is also better because there is no compression.
One thing Disney+ has that K-Scape doesn't is Dolby Vision and HDR10+ capability, which would be great for Kaleidescape to add sooner rather than later (fingers crossed)......
We really need HD version of eXistenZ in the store. Great movie.
Trivia: eXistenZ was one of the last 20 releases on Laserdisc with a release date of December 28, 1999. Image Entertainment ordered Pioneerβs Kuraray in Japan a very small batch of rumored to be under 1000 copies which didnβt even fullfill pre-orders. Image Entertainment opted to port the theatrical far field soundtrack in Dolby Stereo AC-3 which sounds superb. If you can find a copy today, be ready to pay over $1,000.We really need HD version of eXistenZ in the store. Great movie.
Not sure I would say miles better, but the lossless audio is a bit better. There is still a lot of level issues with the K versions compared to previous versions. Cars is a great example, the Atmos track on the 4K K version is neutered compared to the previous Blu-ray/DVD versions. Mix and levels have ZERO to do with compression despite the peanut gallery always stating so.Audio is miles better (coming from someone who has watched Encanto and other Disney titles 100+ times) because it is lossless audio, video is also better because there is no compression.

Also, K video is compressed, it just isn't compressed as much as streaming.
There may be more than one issue with the Bourne movies, but I do know that the 4K transfer of the first Bourne film is universally despised as an embarrassing failure from the visual perspective: a washed out, gray mess. Perhaps the worst 4K disc out there. The HD version is vastly superior. But that's only from the video side. (This is true of the physical disc and digital versions.)Aren't there known films with these variances? I believe somebody brought up the Bourne movies as an example with either the Atmos or something related to HD vs. HDR versions where they preferred the HD version but can't remember why......
