Mobile App version 1.8 - Digital Offers

Howdy folks,

We just released version 1.8 of the iOS mobile application, which now includes a new Digital Offers view accessed through the More menu. To get the most from this view, tap the multi-select icon in the top right corner. When you do, you can see the offer pricing on all of the movies and choose the ones you want to buy. Each movie shows the nature of the offer (e.g., upgrading from HD to 4K, or converting a Blu-ray Disc to a digital download). We also display strike-through pricing of the original price, so you can see the original price, and we keep a running total of what you're saving at the bottom.

The same strike-through pricing has been added to Superbundles as well, and they dynamically update once you've qualified for the bundle. Since there was some confusion a few weeks ago when a few folks had digital offers for movies that were also in the Superbundle, we made sure that the Superbundle view will show you if you're paying the bundle price for a movie or a lower offer price. You can play around with it to see how the pricing algorithm works to save you money.

Finally, if you're browsing around and you come across a movie with offer pricing when you view its details, when you tap the little asterisk text below the purchase button, the popup will also show you the original pricing so you can see how much you're saving.

Work on the Android update with the same features is finished so we're just wrapping up QA and it will be in the Play Store soon.

Awesome, thanks! can you also add the audio icon (Atmos, DTS:x) next to the UHD/HDR icon like the website does it? The audio is important for me to decide if to buy or not so I still need to do this on the website.

Maaaaybe. On smaller-screen devices, that may not fit in the multiple-selection interface. If you stick to the grid in Digital Offers, then you can tap any of the covers, and you'll see if it has Atmos or DTS:X.

it looks like there is plenty of real estate not being used in the app to fit in additional small icons: move the price to the right and you should have plenty of space. If i could see Atmos on all i would click buy them all and done, but now i need to go and click on each to figure that out

My screenshots are from an iPhone 13 Pro Max. Smaller-screen phones and certain iPad split-screen modes are significantly narrower. It may fit; just need to figure out if it does in all cases.

Cool update. Much easier to combine digital offer and special bundle price now with much ease and understanding. Showing both the prices is a win.

You have the perfect combination of movies to really try out the feature, too! If you un-check the last three movies, you'll see that the app will charge you the offer price instead of the Superbundle price, and will display a message telling you that the Digital Offer price is lower.

If you check one of the movies you don't own and one of the movies you don't, you'll see that it charges you the bundle price for both (raising the price by $2.07 on the one with the offer to save you the $28 on the other, netting out to a big savings). It's kind of neat to play around with it and watch the algorithm work.

Meant to write: “If you check one of the movies you do own and one of the movies you don’t…”
