M500/300 Control Module Update

Calm-One

Well-known member
I am about to receive my M500 shortly to replace my Movie Player 2.

Unfortunately, the timing between arrival and programming of the control panels (in my case AMX) has a gap.

But I like science fairs and would like to get the M500 online prior to that programming event.

K announced that there is an updated version of the control module.

What is the difference in control modules?

Will my current control module work at all?

Cheers

I think I read in the release notes (for the Pronto module anyway) you need the new module for KEAOS 4.0 to enable BR playback from M-Class players.

You can obtain the current AMX info at: http://www.kaleidescape.com/support/control-systems/amx.php

Not sure what has changed for AMX, but according to the most recent FAQ on control of M-Class players, it should be available.

(The KEAOS will be automatically updated to 4.0 when you purchase an M-Class player.)

CalmOne,

The new AMX module provides the four colored interactive menu buttons (red, green, blue, yellow) used by some Blu-ray Discs. So long as you set your new M500 Player to the use the same IP address and/or control protocol device ID as your Movie Player 2, the buttons that are already on your AMX panel should continue to operate just fine until your programmer comes out to make the change.

Send me a PM if you have any problems. We're sure you'll enjoy your new M500 Player!

Tom
