Long Video Delay.. Help

SHOEMAN

Well-known member
Hello.
I love the K and have had your guys help me on the past. Currently I’m having delays with the video in my system. When I start a movie or even go from watching a movie to the cover screen it takes about 6 seconds each and every time with any movie. When I am on my cd covers screen and page up or down…right or left it takes 4 to 6 seconds for the CD covers to come up. I know the first response sis that it is my internet speed. I do not feel that is it because I have changed nothing and it has worked great with my current set up for years. I then thought maybe it was because my 3 1U servers are all almost 100% full. So I started deleteing blu rays and even deleted them out of the trash. This did not help. Then it hit me recently that this started happening around the time that all my music covers disappeared as K had a issue with something they were doing and in a few days I had all my covers back. I maybe wrong but it seems like every since then my whole system is extremely slow. Sometimes when starting a movie the sound will start and a few seconds later the picture comes in. Again I stress that I have changed no equipment. Same recover, Projector, HDMI cables, same modem, router, internet set up and happens at all different times of the day, so its not the internet traffic is high. This happens on every one of my 3 players in the house.
I have e mailed K for help this morning as well

Please advise your thoughts on what we can do here.

I wonder if your network switch could be going bad. I don't remember the specifics but when I've had wacky behavior, I eventually traced it back to a failing switch. They do wear out. Also did you try resetting the equipment?

Hi Jerry. I am pretty sure I have powered everything on and off but will try again. I guess I could buy and new switch to swap out and try. If no improvement I could return the switch. You normally get 30 days. Stay tuned

I once had a premiere system that was very slow to respond to commands and the ui was also sluggish. I discussed this with tech support and there is a network test within the system that you can initiate and have them review. As it was a few years ago, I do not remember all the details, but the network was fine and the problem had something to do with an error in the K software. Perhaps best to contact your dealer or maybe tech support directly to help sort things out.

Hope it gets resolved quickly.

My guess is network switch. I had same issue and I swapped switches. Been running fine. I run 7 1Us on the switch

It could also be a drive(s) issue. If you have drives reporting a lot of read/write errors, it can slow down the system. They might not have technically failed, but their performance might degrade system performance. Wait to see what K says.

Update. I have bought a new switch and installed it but no change. It did not make any difference. Same issue. Hopefully K gets back to me soon and can help. I keep going back to when everybody's' cds became unrecognized and and K had to rebuild some files or do something to get all the info back. It seemed to start around then. Tomorrow the new switch will be returned.

When did you reach out to K Support? (You can PM me if preferred.)

Jim

Feb 27th They told they me they have passed it on to Rusty to look into. If your able to help in anyway to get this resolved would be awesome. :)
Thanks Jim

Okay, thanks, just wanted to confirm Rusty has the case. He's very efficient at processing cases, I'll check with him on Monday.

What are your players connected to? My sharp tv has problems with its hdmi ports and all inputs can be slow to connect sometimes.

Quick update. My M300 and my M500 is now working fine not sure if K has done anything or not as I have not heard from Rusty yet. Perhaps when I restarted all servers and players that fixed those two. My DV700 in my theater still has the same problem. Movie will start with sound only and 5 to 7 seconds later the picture will start. When I hit menu to go back to the covers it takes about the same 5 to 7 seconds for the cover screen to appear. I have change the router no help, tonight I change the lan cable to the DV700 no help, I changed the HDMI cable from the DV700 to the receiver and no help. This is so weird. Everything else hooked up to the same receiver and projector starts right away. PS3, CABLE TV, Xbox 360, Apple TV, HD DVD player. Like I said from the start I have changed nothing in my set up as far as equipment or cables. Maybe on the advanced video setting I have medium sharpening perhaps that is causing the delay and will try that tomorrow night. Still hoping to hear of a solution from K.:(

I suppose anything is possible, but I very strongly doubt the video sharpening is the problem. I suspect there is some network funkiness at play.

If you're getting audio but not video, it's unlikely to be a network issue. Audio and video are all one stream going to the player for decoding. It's either getting there, or it isn't.

How is the DV700 connected? HDMI only, or a mix of HDMI and one of the digital audio outputs?

Update. I did get a response to which they said they do see the long read time of the files. A few days later everything was fixed and back to normal. Not sure what was wrong as there was no feedback. Don't really care as just so happy that its fixed and back to normal. Thanks K support for getting my system back into shape. LOVE MY SYSTEM
LONG LIVE THE K
