  • 🔷Why can't I make a new post here in "The Marketplace"? 🤔

    All registered users can reply to other members' posts here in the Marketplace, to respond as potential buyer or ask questions of the seller.
    However, only members who have paid to become "Premium" members or "Patrons" can make a new "for sale" post here in Marketplace.

    Premium memberships can be purchased for as little as $10... a very reasonable fee in order to sell equipment here, far lower than the seller's fee would be on eBay or Audiogon or other sites. Our site doesn't sell ads or sell user's information. This small fee is the only source of funds for the site to offset the costs it takes to run the forum.

FOR SALE: KServer 2500 5U Server (Grandfathered) with full diskset

Just upgraded my 5U server with a new 1U+. I'm interested in selling my grandfathered 5U server with fully populated (12 disk) diskset. In great shape (has been rack mounted), all disks fully functional, with content erased.

Asking $900, but any reasonable offer would be entertained (I don't have any extra space to store it).
 
Might want to check with Kaleidescape. If the 1u+ is on the same account as the 5u, it will not be grandfathered unless added to an existing grandfathered system.

To be clear, what Kevin is correctly saying is that the Seller is giving up the ability to import DVD content to the 1U+ by selling his 5U (assuming he doesn't have another Grandfathered server in his system). This decision does NOT affect the 5U, if it is currently Grandfathered, it will remain Grandfathered.

That is correct. I have two grandfathered 5U servers. I upgraded one of them to the 1U+ and used that one to transfer the grandfathered status. The 5U server I am selling was not used for this and can be used by the buyer for DVD import without disrupting my system's ability to do so.

My 5U server just crapped out and K'scape wants me to upgrade to a new, non-grandfathered system.
