KREADER worth fixing?

I've bought two used KREADER-2000s off eBay. I have a few region 2 DVDs i want to import, they were cheap and I thought I could dedicate one to the purpose.

Neither of them has worked. They boot and connect to the server, but won't import discs. I tried swapping a new drive into one of them, which also didn't work.

Are there any other common failure modes that are inexpensive to fix? Better strategy?

Thanks in advance...

Check with Kaleidescape's tech support to see what the logs say? They may know what the issue is and how difficult the solution would be.

You could try to swap the drive in the other one.

What is the reason given for failing the import (look on the "Imports" page of the browser interface)? Did you remember to set the new drive's region code to the appropriate region for the disc(s) you are trying to import?

I don't get any message. It's as though the reader doesn't 'know' that a disc has been loaded.

I did (try to) set the region, but it doesn't 'see' region 1 DVDs either.
