Huh?? This is just crossing the wires... I've not heard any mention of this before.

Seems there's a new "Child Remote" for Kaleidescape, and if one is used it automatically switches the User Interface into a child-specific mode.

Announcement: Kaleidescape announces Child User Interface

PDF Manual: Child Remote Getting Started Guide

Anyone know if it's only on M-Class players or will it work on all players?

Fantastic!! Something I would buy in heart beat!

Really, my kids like using the system and it would be great for them. Most remote solutions out there are pretty complex.

Good work K.

I'll head over to the website to order tonight at home. Never comfortable ordering from work computers.

Maybe we will get more goodies before CEDIA is through.

This was a great idea, even more relevant now that I "twins" on the way (although it would also be helpful for my in-laws)!!:)

This is a brilliant idea. One thing they should do is give this functionality (or actually slightly restricted functionality it seems) to the touch panels etc.

Jerry, I'm pretty sure that the kid's remote uses discrete IR codes that could be learned into ANY control system. So you (or your installer) should be able to learn the commands into a limited access page or special kid friendly page on your touchscreen controller. Though, then it's on you if they drop your Crestron panel instead of a $39 remote! :)

Youd be surprised at how robust those crestron panels are! The weak part is the battery, not build quality. The battery can't be cycled too much or they die.
