Kaleidascape 6TB Strato Power Issue

Hey guys,

I've got a strato 6tb that was fresh out the box after being left in our warehouse for too long, seems it has an issue whereby its just stuck in a boot loop.
I've run diagnostics and it seems to fail on a kOS update and just get stuck, according to kaleidascape this is not repairable and is out of warranty, seems a little hard to believe but I was wondering if anyone knew if there might be a fix for it?

Otherwise its a VERY expensive paperweight that never got used!

Thanks in advance!

Hi James, did you get anywhere with this? I have a k0510 4K player with no storage seems stuck in a boot loop also. Not even getting an IP address. Come up with the K-Scape logo and then under that "One moment please ..." but doesn't get any further.

No, I've contacted my sales rep for K-Scape and theyve passed on my diagnostics and said rather vaguely that its beyond repair. Rather annoying since its literally been sat in a box since original order.

A lot of "computer" based problems arise from the internal clock being out of sync or not running right. There's a small battery on the mainboard, that when it loses its charge, will whack up the computer. Open up the Strato and see if it has one of those. Just pop in a brand new one, and try again.

Hi SimonSays,

Yes I have tried this and replacing the harddrive with the same model but to no avail.
When I did the diagnostics the unit was trying to do an update but kept failing. So i think its some sort of internal memory failure, that K-Scape dont want to fix as theyve said its not repairable which seems surprising to me.

When Support indicates a product is "not repairable" it's because they do not have a repair service. Products under warranty that experience a problem are likewise not repaired, instead K uses an exchange service. The in-warranty product is returned to K and they exchange it for a remanufactured replacement, or for a new product if there is no remanufactured replacement available.

Although OOW products are not repaired, they may be eligible for a trade credit toward a replacement product, either remanufactured (if available), or new. Support, or the dealer, would need to be contacted to determine what, if any, trade is available.

Too bad it sat in a box for 5+ years, that makes it impossible to know if the problem existed when it was new, or developed because of the storage conditions.

Jim
