Issues with a specific movie

Hello All

I was trying to play the original top gun movie for the kids, and it was stuttering and not playing. I was able to play Toy Story and other movies with no issues. Is there an easy way to fix this?

You might want to delete and redownload the movie, but it could also be a drive starting to have read errors. If some movies play fine, while others don't, assuming a multi-disc system, that can be an indication of a slowly failing drive. If the problem appears again with other movies, I think the system drives should be looked at by Support.

This is the terra server that may be a year old. I am not sure if the movie is on the terra or on Strato either

Got it. Try that re-download, and then reach out of the problem persists (with any titles).

Try replaying a few of the problem scenes over and over and pay attention to see if the stutters happen at the EXACT same moment.
  • If they do, it is likely an indication of a problem with the title or potentially (and probably more likely) a problem with the data being read from a hard drive. Trying to delete and redownload the movie may help, but it may also trick you into thinking it was a bad download and not read errors on a hard drive (since the movie will likely be written to a different part of the HDD).
  • If they do NOT, then there is likely something in the environment causing the issue (e.g., network, HDMI, etc.). It is possible that this movie (and possibly others you have not been testing with) was encoded with a higher video bitrate and needs more bandwidth. If an Ethernet connection or HDMI cable is "on the edge", the slightly extra bandwidth may be enough to push it over the cliff.
As Jim pointed out, contacting K support is likely your best move. I just wanted to provide some guidance to help pinpoint the issue. When you do contact K, you can help them out considerably by "marking" the stutters you are seeing. To do this, press a series of UNIQUE buttons on your remote that you would not normally press (like "5,5,5,5") each time you see the issue. Let K know what buttons you pressed and they'll have a time stamp to look for in your logs where they can investigate easier.

Good luck,
Andy
