Issue w/ Strato C & Terra Prime 22TB both in a 1u Rackmount

If anyone has a Strato C & Terra Prime mounted in the single rack unit rack mount, are you having issues with the rackmount faceplate lining up? I didn't read the manual for the mount, but is there a particular side the units should be mounted on that will allow them to line up? It's as though they are shifted one way by 1/4" leaving an unsightly gap.

If you followed these instructions you shouldn't have any problems. We've installed a few, haven't noticed any issues, but not sure what "gap" you're referring to.

RACK MOUNT INSTALLATION OF TERRA (COMPACT) AND STRATO C

SINGLE UNIT INSTALLATION

  1. Place the Terra (compact) or Strato C Movie Player upside down on a soft, clean, and slightly elevated surface.
  2. Remove and keep the three black screws visible on the bottom of the unit.

  1. Place the rack shelf centered over the unit and align the front of the unit and the rack mount as required by the installation. In the front-most position the player face will protrude by ¾” (recommended). In the rearmost position, the face of the player is flush with the front of the rack ears. Install the center saved screw to set this position. Install the other two screws where they line up with the rear holes. This will vary based on the model being installed.

  1. The bottom flange on the fascia will go on the outside of the shelf. This panel is not firmly attached until the shelf is installed in the rack.

  1. While firmly holding the fascia to the rack shelf, flip the assembly over. It is ready to install in the rack.

DUAL UNIT INSTALLATION

  1. Place two units upside-down on a soft, clean and slightly elevated surface. This can be any combination of Terra (compact) Servers or Strato C Movie Players.
  2. Remove and keep the three black screws visible on the bottom of each unit.

That looks like the front face plate. Can you slide it a little up and to the left before tightening the rack mount screws or not enough wiggle room?

Thanks for responding! Not any wiggle room. In the past I have always mounted KScape devices so that they extend forward about 3/8” and that always drove me crazy about KScape. Maybe that’s what I have to do versus flush with the plate.

I have all of this Jim. But maybe I need to just push the devices forward versus flush. I always hated that design.

So it turns out that the horizontal flanges on the faceplate (that fit above and below the equipment) were shipped with enough bend inward that they wouldn’t ride over the rack mount base itself. Once I bent these back to 90 degrees I was able to get the plate to move left or right therefore allowing me to align the plate with the Strato & Terra pieces. All good now.

Thanks for the help guys!
