Is K showing anything new at CES 2015?

I have a fiber 300 up and 300 download speed connection. I have down loaded bluray from the store in 30 min at 187mbps. Not common but I do get really fast connections sometimes.

starting to get a bit stale.
as an owner of a k system, i cant help but feel a little disappointed.
no new 4k players yet.
no new hard drives.
no new movie studios.
no new movie streaming options.
no integration with existing paid music streaming.

where is the INNOVATION feeling kscape?

just feels stale.
is anything happening in the near future? anyone?

Yeah. I agree 100%. Been waiting for a reason to buy into K and not seeing it. Been several months since the latest studies and Alto were announced. They need to move forward in a big way soon.

No new hard drives yet? They have NEVER pre-announced new hard drives coming to market.

Regarding new 4K players, how long have those been on the market, aside from the proprietary systems?

Movie studios are coming, but I too am disappointed at the rate they are added.

Really though, you are wondering if anything is happening in the future as though it is possible that nothing new will ever come. That is quite nearly impossible, but the silence is the way they operate. There are many companies that run quiet until something is ready to ship.

New content and equipment will come. If you wanted Kaleidescape to be the first to be on the market with the newest thing, they would have bankrupted themselves. It is called the bleeding edge for a reason. Hell, even Sony is having trouble keeping on the forefront. Just relax and have faith that 4k, larger drives and more studios will come. Until then, just enjoy movies and/or TV. Seriously, it is Sunday night. Shouldn't you be watching Game of Thrones right now anyway, complaining about how everybody you care about gets killed?

Things are moving fast in the AV world at the moment. Immersive sound formats, oled tvs and 4K hooting its honker. 4K players are due out before the end of the year but will there be anything to play on them?

I am just guessing but I would expect next year will be a busy time in the world of K. Maybe a new generation of hardware for the Premiere line to enable a 5K experience?

............4K players are due out before the end of the year but will there be anything to play on them?.........

Given that I was recently able to experience several 4K movies on what was essentially BR disc format, I'd say the answer is "Yes," there will be content, but it will likely be slow in coming, probably similar to BR when it was released.

How is color depth? Is it an improvement over the current bluray standard? Or, I guess the better question is, was the picture better than just a resolution increase?

It wasn't HDR as far as I could tell, and I was not able to do an A/B comparison with the same movies in standard BR, so impossible to comment on the visual differences, but in general the 4K movies did look "better." Was that based only on the resolution increase over standard BR? Maybe, but without other measurements of both versions on the same display impossible to know for sure. Keep in mind this was on what would be classified as a prototype device because it is not the final production design. There may be additional changes in device and content based on the newly agreed to UHD BR spec., so my comments have little value beyond the fact that disc based 4K content will be available going forward.
