If you have a Strato + Premier in the same rack or room

Hi,

I am interested in knowing if you have a classic Premier player, plus a new Strato in the same location, how you are handling simple remote control (versus Control4, etc)?

Since both respond to Toshiba/Kenwood codes, in my setup where only a couple feet of space separate these components, it's a game to get only one player to activate versus both.

Its a temporary thing, but one I need to accommodate.

Thanks

I thought it was possible to set up a player to only respond to Toshiba or only Kenwood codes, allowing two to operate in the same room. It has been a long time since I have done that, but I did do that once long ago.

Presuming no Costar? One of each, as Mike mentions. However, not an issue if connected via Costar, as the Strato will control the Premiere player.

I was late to the game for Costar. Seems neat though.

I think my temporary solution is to use the external remote for power on/off and use the app for playback controls; at least the app allows selectable individual player playback controls (on Android).

If you are not using the system for music, then the costar route is the way you want to go. Seamless and a unified movie collection menu.

Why don’t you use “second screen” or am I missing something?

If you just leave the players powered-on, then you could skip the remote (particularly if you are only worried about it temporarily.)

Telling it you have them connected via Costar anyway may also be an option, but then you'd have to manually switch inputs (and may be less of an option for your case.)

Yes, you can. It's on the player settings page in the browser interface, on the Control tab.

I am going to try this with the Logitech this weekend.

Reading up on the Costar as well. Haven't seen any information if the newer Strato V is a concern as literature simply states Strato.

Lastly, whoever fixed my initial title typo, thanks!
