... but we strongly encourage you to register for a full account. There is no cost to register for a full account.

Benefits of registering for a full account:

    • Participate in the discussions! You must have a registered account to make posts on the forums. You will be able to start your own thread on a topic or question, or you can reply to other threads/discussions.
    • Use the "Conversation" feature (known as "private messaging" on other forums) to communicate directly with any of the other users here.
    • Access the Files area. The "resources" area of the forum contains many "Favorite Scene" and Script files that can dramatically increase the enjoyment of your Kaleidescape system. Go directly to great scenes in your favorite movies, created by other owners, and add automation to playback of your system with Scripts.
    • You won't see this annoying notice at the top of every screen!😊

It's easy and free to register for the forum. Just click the "Register" button in the upper right corner of this page, and follow the instructions there.

  • 🔷Why can't I make a new post here in "The Marketplace"? 🤔

All registered users can reply to other members' posts here in the Marketplace, to respond as potential buyer or ask questions of the seller.
However, only members who have paid to become "Premium" members or "Patrons" can make a new "for sale" post here in Marketplace.

Premium memberships can be purchased for as little as $10... a very reasonable fee in order to sell equipment here, far lower than the seller's fee would be on eBay or Audiogon or other sites. Our site doesn't sell ads or sell user's information. This small fee is the only source of funds for the site to offset the costs it takes to run the forum.

For more information on purchasing a Premium or Patron membership, please see the Account Upgrades section of your user profile.

I have a Kscape triton (Kserver2500 5U, Kreader and Kplayer) that is loaded with 12 750GB drives. It has many of the Kscape DVD collections on it. Looking to sell it to cover my lost investment. anybody have any ideas as how to go about selling this ferrari of home media?

wow - seriously? That's the first we've heard of something like this... (also first I've heard of the "triton" name - is that a new name Kaleidescape is using because I'm pretty familiar with their products and marketing and hadn't heard that before?)

Forgive me (us?) if we are a little suspicious of the post - but the system must be just weeks old if it's loaded with 750gb carts as those have only been out about a month or so... it's a massive and incredibly expensive, brand new system apparently. Can you say any more about the reason you're selling or where it came from?

I don't know Kaleidescape's policy on selling the equipment, with movies. But I can check and find out. Not sure if you'll find many buyers for the entire system as a bundle... that's a pretty big system to place on the used-equiment market. You might find people wanting to buy the parts separately, however.

acutally, I have been mis-informed. It is a Kserver 2500 with 12 400GB drives, one Kreader and a Kplayer. According to Kscape, who had referred me to this forum, the drives will have to be cleared of data before transfer. Still under warranty until mid 2008. A man owed me much money and he gave me this server in exchange. I am looking to sell it and from what I got from Kscape, it will be for about 10k less than a new system. It will be a very cheap way for anyone to get 4 terabytes of storage with the proprietary OS.

I think providing the original DVD software is sold with the content on the server it shouldn't be a problem, as discussed elsewhere, you need to own the originals.

Does booker want to sell his entire movie collection?

I cannot legally sell the dvd collection because I do not own the discs. The Kscape was given to be because of a debt owed, and I will have to wipe the drives before selling them. According to Kscape. Just looking to sell the system.

"Hey, I got this K-System that fell off the back of a truck....." ;)

unit fell off of no trucks, completely legit, feel free to ask Kscape. triton was a term quoted to me by the individual who gave it to me. He also told me he had 750GB drives. Makes sense, he owed me quite a bit of money. Anyone looking to upgrade an existing or purchase a new can get a fantastic deal.

While I was skeptic #1 in his first post, it now seems to me bbooker is legitimate. He made some mistakes in his first description, which he's since corrected, and any interested buyer would have to work with Kaleidescape to put the transfer through, so I'm sure they'd find it was a legit sale. For whatever reason, he now legally owns that unit it seems, and can sell it subject to Kscape's restrictions. I'm sure they'd be happy to verify that the unit can be transferred if an interested buyer contacted the company.

Might be a bargain in here for the right buyer, so in my view - he's come to a reasonable spot to look for interested folks, and I have no rules here about selling stuff on the board.

Good luck bbooker... I hope you understand why people here (me included) were skeptical initially.

12x400 GB drives= about enough space for a little more than 500 or so movies. I just filled up 6 750 drives with 500 movies. JFYI.

Email me about the KPlayer.

jmh,

The system being discussed in this thread, and it's component parts, have already been sold. (Sorry)

Jim
