I have mine in the theater on the arm rest tray on a stand. It’s an iPad mini, but it still takes up some space there, and is a bit cumbersome to fold away into the arm rest storage when I’m not using it.

If you use one, how do you have yours set up?

Arm rest mount. Detaches easily so we can pass it around with guests. I also use guided control to lock access specifically to second screen.

I have charging integrated with the stand, so that makes the stand itself a bit cumbersome to put away.

My iPad is locked into my rowing machine 95% of the time. I don't even like taking laptops upstairs. I'd rather have access to collections in the regular iPhone app so we can use the "watch soon" collection in the living room where we like to choose a movie before going downstairs.

It's neat they have all this functionality but the lack of parity between apps and interfaces drives me absolutely BONKERS.

I want my wish list in the Strato UI and I want my collections in the phone app.

That would be great, to have parity between iPad and iPhone, I second that motion!

At the same time, having been “forced” to try out using an iPad, I selected the smallest one, and I really like it. Besides Second Screen, I also use it for the Denon app, which has a better UI than the phone version, and also play my mobile game. I do end up moving this iPad to my office on the same basement level, now that I like using it, which makes it something I now need to remember to bring back to the theater. Less of a hassle than leaving it on another floor I guess. I suppose I could get two? But that seems a bit crazy, even for me.

If I didn't want the iPad for Apple Fitness+, I wouldn't have bought a new iPad for Second Screen. I traded in an old iPad that I could've left in the living room if I wanted more stuff up there (I don't), but the battery wouldn't hold much of a charge anyway. I don't use it "in the theater" even though the rowing machine is technically "in the theater". If I ever find myself wanting to use Second Screen, it's when I'm upstairs and I'll either talk myself out of using it or take the iPad or my laptop upstairs to use it.

It´s an iPad-only app. Only shows up in the app-store using an iPad.

Although glorious when run on an M MacBook and viewed on a Studio Display (i.e.: collections screenwalls!)

...but back on topic, ours is an iPad mini with a cover that floats from chair to chair with an available charging cable.

My iPad just sits on the counter in the back of my viewing area and I grab it from time to time, but honestly, I rarely use it as it is just easier to use my iPhone. If the same functionality was built into the phone app that would be great.

I have a tablet holder arm chair accessory and I can quickly navigate to different scenes and such.

Very cool, thanks for the visual. I’ll share my current setup too when I get home, I’m traveling for two weeks.

This is perhaps another good time for me to ask the question again -- what features do you use on the Second Screen app? Choosing a movie to play? Playing scenes/songs/extras? Others?

I tried using it for selection from my armrest, but it was redundant in that position. It then primarily became a source for some two-way communication to see where I am in the movie. Especially since pause doesn’t bring up a transport bar. But it ended up just being too bulky to keep in the armrest and I just moved it today to the bar behind the theater seats. Maybe it can be more useful there?

For me, I really enjoy the ability to jump between different movie scenes quickly. I also use it frequently to switch between concerts and songs. One feature I especially appreciate is the progress bar—it’s helpful to see exactly how much time is left in a film. This setup is great when I have people over, as I can easily jump to specific scenes or content, especially while we’re waiting for the main title to finish downloading in the background. While I do have a script set up for demos, this approach allows for more spontaneous choices based on the vibe in the room.

As for concerns about space, it doesn’t affect my enjoyment of the chair at all. I simply turn off the display when I’m not using it, so it doesn’t distract from the main screen.

Backup remote (when the stick is faeling finicky or out of juice) and hopping between discs in a set (without having to go through the change in resolution/etc. of the main menu.)

When you say "progress bar", what are you referring to exactly? Is it the time remaining display here?
