I can understand why Kaleidescape/studios may not allow upgrading from disc to digital HDR but when I buy the highest quality version available in the store (HD) at a particular time and then am asked to pay full price when the HDR version is released is galling. I bought the Jack Ryan series (Hunt for Red October, Clear and Present Danger, etc) as soon as they were available in the store but I now see they are available in HDR at the full price only.
I am happy to pay the premium the store charges to support Kaleidescape but to then have to pay twice when I would have bought HDR from the outset is just frustrating. It means customers should not buy HD versions and just wait for the HDR versions.
Is there a list of studios which allow upgrades from HD to HDR so we know what studios to avoid?
Also, surely Kaleidescape could negotiate with the studios to allow upgrades if the original title was bought in the store to avoid this issue?
