Hard drive failure

Hello,

I just received an alert that I had a drive failure in my 3U server. However, all of the drives are still blue. And the hot spare is still flashing blue. Additionally, when i try and watch a movie i get an error message that says, difficulty reading movie.

Any thoughts? or help?

Thanks in advance.

It's possible a drive reported enough read/write errors to trigger the drive failure notice, but not enough to change the drive color (unusual, but possible). This would also explain the error message you are seeing. Contact your dealer (or K Support) to have the failure confirmed and then expect to replace the drive.

Also, you might check to see if a drive is rebuilding (probably not if your hot spare is the same as it has been).

Thank you Jim. I received my first alert of a drive failure at 6:28 pm. That prompted my above post. Then a second alert at 8:24. That is when the failed drive turned amber. And received notice of drive being re-built. This is my first drive failure so was not sure what to expect. Thanks again for your response.

Sorry about the failure, but at least you are covered pending receipt of a replacement, that's one major positive of the 3U's hot spare. Good luck.
