Frustrating Speedreader Problem

Joe

Well-known member
I just got my new Kaleidescape system over the holidays, including a speedreader. I am experiencing a frustrating problem. When the robotic arm places a disc into the upper drive tray, every so often, it lays the disc slightly offcenter so that the drive tray cannot close. It never seems to miss the bottom tray, but the problem I described eventually halts the whole import process.

Any ideas?

I have no experience with the speedreader, but if that's a new unit it clearly has a defect and you should contact your dealer or Kaleidescape support. I think you'll find Kaleidescape very responsive to make sure this gets fixed or replaced under warranty.

I'll ditto Josh. Sounds like the arm needs adjustment but regardless of what it is I would contact support for their advice before working on the unit yourself.

Just wanted to update everyone about this issue. K-scape contacted the speedreader manufacturer, who worked with my installer to calibrate the device. The reader runs a variant of Linux (Puppy Linux). They booted it up on a Linux CD and ran utilities to calibrate the robotic arm. Now the performance is flawless! It never ceases to amaze me how cool all of this k-scape stuff is!

Great to hear Joe. K's support of their products remains top-notch.
