Enhancing theatrical experience - Dolby Atmos intro

I also wanted to add an idea.... As a lifetime enthusiast of AV I feel if I might like this others might to....

IDEA #1 👀 [ more ideas to come in the future ]
People with Kscape systems tend to have large systems and enjoy a theatrical experience.

Why not add all the much loved Dolby, DTS, IMAX, AURO3D, THX sound format intro sequences to the platform. Imagine if we could download them and have a simple feature in the menus to randomly assign a format 30 second intro that corresponds to the movie you're about to watch. When you press play Kscape would....

- Black screen with some information coming through to enable the handshake to the processor and projector [ 3 seconds would be about right...]
- Play the intro - We all sit back and marvel as well as congratulate Kscape for being so unique and great and ohhh and ahhhh on how this feels EVEN MORE LIKE THE CINEMA 😆
- Then the movie commences..

It's really super simple and a low hanging fruit that could really amplify your consumers experience, add value and of course you could write up a lovely press release along with your sound technology partners and introduce as a new feature. These trailers to my knowledge are NOT currently available to download which is for me the problem. Im sure there is a SUPER complicated way to make this work with a separate source device but we didn't buy Kscape to be complicated.

They would also make for GREAT demo clips also!

Trinnov just released a bunch of their own for free download which is both cool and useless to me as I have no way to play them....

Just a dopey idea from a new customer who loves your product and who would love to see additional value added over time.

I also agree. You could even edit/produce a custom video specific to your theatre (I keep having to explain the seat adjustments to old & young people!).

But more importantly, I bought a few of those Dolby Atmos demo discs off eBay and they have some impressively cool demo videos that would make for a great amuse-bouche before the main feature!

I don’t see those available to me but they are the same videos on the demo discs I mentioned along with some movie scenes, music, and video game content. Well worth the $20!

Not a dealer but I can’t understand why these demo disks or K clips aren’t made available to everyone.

TBH I would expect them to give them away but if necessary i am sure most of us would be happy to pay something. I can’t believe cost is the issue though. Always seemed odd.

Thanks for all your thoughts guys! Did anyone find a solution? When I search for Dolby Atmos Demonstrations it doesn't come up 👎

This is such a no brainer IMO. Such an easy win for Kscape

The Atmos clips are for dealers only at this point. The Trinnov demo clips are better though and should be available to anyone.

Isn't this already possible? See the comment by cbrown1472 beneath this video:

...or have I misunderstood?

If you want to manually create a playlist for every movie, yes it’s technically possible except for the adding multiple Dolby and DTS trailers. Standard users can’t sideload content and scripting is cool but not automatic.

Many thanks and sorry to be a bit thick. The ultimate would be to have a single script so that before any movie played, there could be some content of choice (such as a home produced welcome to the cinema and a reminder to turn off mobile phones) then an Atmos demo. I take it from what you say that this is not currently possible. Is that right?

I believe K's current business model and contracts would effectively prevent any ability to upload and/or play external videos.

To accomplish this, you would need to leverage automation and another video source: When you press "Play" while using K, switch to Video Source X and play File Y, then switch back to K and Play.

Personally, I'm hoping that the new "K in Theaters" business involves the production of a flying logo for "This Theater Powered by Kaleidescape" that they then make available to all of us fine K owners. :)

Depending on whether the message is truly personal, and not commercial (like the Atmos clips,) then there might be options if K still offers the option of sticking personal content in a private-section of the store (designed for home videos to help folks transition all-Encore.)
