I have a 3U server with mostly 2Tb drives and three 4tb drives. I have room for three more and am looking for what my options are. My dealer from whom I purchased the system in 2011 is now out of business. Any help is appreciated.

3x6TB
2x6TB for Raid, 1x 6TB for Movies
or
you contact Kaleidescape (or a new Dealer in your Area) and upgrade your old 3U Server to an new 3U with 14x6TB

Add 3 6TB drives and get a useable additional capacity of 14TB.

Depending on where you are located, may want to see if there is another dealer (or member) who could help loan a 3U chassis to replicate everything over. Otherwise, you are stuck with the options John mentions. My feeling is you are too close to the end to jump-up in capacity, as the difference in cost probably isn't worth the 50 BDs to go with 6Ts.

At this point I will most likely just buy the three 6TB drives to get the 14TB extra space. As you mention, upgrading all 14 spaces to 6TB would require an available server and then there is the risk. If some of my drives start to fail, I will then take the all 6TB plunge.

I will have a spare 3U server chassis soon. Where are you located?
