Difficulty Playing Movie - Strato C

I am getting repeat "Difficulty Playing Movie" messages on all HDR content since the most recent kOS update. When I went to play some titles today there was a general error on the OSD for Kaleidescape calling for restart of the unit. I played Prometheus HDR 4K version and about an hour in kept giving the message below and pausing the movie. This is now repeating ever 15-20 seconds. I also restarted the unit after this and it it still happening on this and other titles attempted.

On the Strato I ran a speedtest and now getting results shown attached. Trying to figure out a solution before an upcoming movie party and don't want to resort to using AppleTV for it which is working just fine.

Contact Support before they leave for the weekend, and have them look at your system on their end. It could be:

-LAN problem, cable, switch, etc. (sorry, I know that's too general to help)
-possibly a failing drive (too many read/write errors)
-defective component

Support will confirm.

Thanks - awaiting my integrator to arrive since I don't have a direct connection to Kaleidescape Support (or at least I think I don't). Hopefully the get here before EOD for K Support

It looks like the poorest numbers are coming from the Terra ending in 281 compared to server 061. Here are the numbers to be most concerned with since it reflects the data coming from a server to another component.

a.) 281 -> 061 = 8.6
b.) 281 -> 718 = 7.3
c.) 281 -> 646 = 7.1

d.) 061 -> 281 = 23.4
e.) 061 -> 718 = 72.7
f.) 061 -> 646 = 70.3

The only slow number for 061 is when it is going to server 281 (d). I'd guess there is either an issue with the Ethernet cable/port for that server, or the server itself (maybe a hard drive like @cinelife mentioned).

To test the theory, you could temporarily power that server off and see if anything changes. You are going to of course not see the content on that server, but it may allow you to get through the movie party (minus those movies).

Good luck,
Andy

Thank you Andy. It's very intermittent at present. Doing a firmware update to the router now and have not had any dropouts or frozen playback (so far) after about an hour. Integrator will be back on Tuesday to run further diagnostics. Will ask them to reach out to K Support as well to do any analysis of the system on their end.

It would be a good idea to run another speed test after each change. You may also want to swap the server Ethernet cables as a test and see if the low numbers follow the cable or the server.

Have a nice evening!
Andy
