  • 🔷Why can't I make a new post here in "The Kaleidescape Gear Marketplace"? 🤔

To sell gear on the forum, you need to have a current "premium" (paid) membership on the forum.

The Kaleidescape Owners Forum doesn't sell ads or sell user's information. The fees for these premium memberships for people who sell gear here is the only source of funds for the site to offset the costs it takes to run the forum.

To summarize the tiers of membership:

    • Registered (free) members can participate in any discussions anywhere on the forum, message other users, download favorite-scene files and script files, and reply to any marketplace listings.
    • "Supporter"-tier members (as little as $15 for 30 days) can also make listings in the Kaleidescape (ONLY) gear Marketplace in order to try to sell Kaleidescape gear.
(Supporters can NOT make listings on the Non-Kaleidescape Forum)
    • "Premium" and "Patron"-tier members, (starting at $50 for 6 months) in addition to many other benefits, can make listings to either of the marketplace sections here in this forum section.

For more information on the benefits of a paid members, or to purchase a Supporter, Premium or Patron membership, please see the Account Upgrades section of your user profile.

Sorry for any confusion, I was given the wrong information.
As of now, the only drive that is available is a 12 TB, which has been qualified to work on the 1U, 1U+, and 3U

Hi everyone, new to the community. I purchased a strato V last August and just found this forum through a YouTube video..I dont know much but would want to know the difference between 1u,1u+ and 3u

The 1U+ is the current server for the Premiere system. Whereas the old 1U, and its predecessor the 3U, are no longer current Premiere server models.

The Premiere system is the predecessor disc-based (limited to DVD and 1080P Blu-ray) system. Whereas the Strato / Terra system is the current 4K capable system.

Note that the correct server family for your Strato V is one of the Terra models if you’d like to expand your local storage capacity.

Cheers,
Alan

You have the latest Kaleidescape product, it is a part of the Strato-Terra line. The 1U, 1U+, and 3U servers are part of the older "Premiere" line. There are still thousands of owners using Premiere systems, and many of them have both Premiere and Strato-Terra systems (myself included).

The first Premiere server was a K2000, followed shortly after by a K2500 server. These were 5U servers (5 rack units) that had 12 drives The next server released in the Premiere line was the 3U Server, it had 14 drives, followed by the 1U Server (a smaller Server that holds 4 drives), and lastly the 1U+, also has 4 drives, and is still being offered for sale by K. The Premiere line's main attraction is the ability to import disc based content, subject to some restrictions based on content resolution, but can only import (or download from the K Store) DVD (SD), and Blu-ray (HD) content, NOT 4K. This Premiere line and the Strato-Terra line are completely separate product lines that do not interface with each other directly, and cannot share content. However, if an owner has both Strato-Terra and Premiere, it is possible to see the content stored in both systems onscreen simultaneously by adding a "Co-Star" switch kit.
