Broken Strato player with Terra Prime server

Would a Kaleidescape Strato work as a player even if the hard drive is broken that's assuming I had a Terra Prime server connected up as well?

Just wondered if it's worth purchasing a used Strato as my player and then purchasing a prime server as the server...

I figure at some point the Strato hard drive or fail and I don't want to be left with a useless brick.

However if the Strato was still usable as a player that would be fine..
 
No. If a Strato's HDD has failed, it will be unable to boot and cannot be used as a player.
