Blu-Ray Player Coming!

Im curious as to why you would say that. I hear the CGTs are fantastic cars- though they can be a handful.

I'm THIS close to pulling the trigger on a 1080 mini player for the guest bedroom. My assumption is that since it only plays content stored on the server that it will be able to play blu-ray material. However, does anyone know if this assumption is correct?

Thanks,

Mike

Sorry Mike, but it will not.:( Only BR Players will be capable of playing back BR content.

Wow. I'm glad I asked. Do you suppose K will be offering a 1080 mini BR then?

Given what the mini is designed to accomplish (smaller footprint/less expensive/hidden install) I could see a BR mini to accomplish the same someday. That said, I doubt it is a high priority and IMO I don't think we would see one anytime soon, but then again, I don't work for K and their employees do not release info on upcoming products so I guess anything is possible.

Any idea WHEN the BR player will be released? Like 2Q, 3Q or 4Q?

WRT disk storage space for BR, I buy a lot of DVDs (and now BRs), and I've found that the hard drives do more or less keep pace with appetite. ie. We've got 1TB drives now, and soon 1.5 TB drives. Next year, it'll be 2+ TB drives. And in five years or so, we'll finally be able to go solid state. I've got a solid state drive now in one of my PCs, and it's very nice!

I expect we will get more info on a release date soon. Up to this point it is still officially "this year."
