auto turn off

Is there any setting that allows auto turn off when kscape is idle? I see second screen app is turning on player when I am browsing and keeps it on even I am not using it after browsing. Not sure if it is ok if kscape player is on for long time.

Placing a player (anything newer than M-class) into standby basically does two things:
  1. Turns off the HDMI port
  2. Turns off the front-panel LED
Neither of those things saves an appreciable amount of power or anything. So there's really no harm in having the player awake.

There is a special low-power standby mode on certain players, but that mode turns off most of the motherboard completely, which means that you can't wake the player up using IP, so it's not suited to most installations.

So there´s definitely room for improvement for the future. A media player should consume close to 0 power when not in use.

My K system is costing me like $50/month in electricity, bulk of it from the Premiere system, with day-time robbery style California rates.
