Aspect ratio and image size issue

Anyone has experienced aspect ratio issue with Strato S? I have been using Strato S connecting to the JBL SDP75 processor and then to the JVC RS3000 projector with DCR Anamorphic Len. If you are using DCR Len and using JVC Anamorphic mode C, you would know there should be no black bar when watching 2.40 content on a scope screen and any 16:9 image would also fill up the screen but part of the image would fall outside the top and bottom of the screen. In the past few days, when playing movies like Maverick and and some other 16:9 movies, during the IMaX/16:9 scene, suddenly black bars appeared to both sides of the screen and when switched to 2.40 scene, black bars appears in all 4 sides of the screen. This never happens before. Nevertheless The blu-ray player works perfectly fine at this moment.

I had changed the Edid setting from A to B in the JVC projector before but now switched it back to A. But the problem still exists.

Hope anyone could help.

I’m not sure what modes A, B, and C are on the JVC. Could you elaborate a bit?

Maverick has a shifting aspect ratio and you are seeing that. Some parts of the movie are in 1.90:1 while others are in full scope. If you use Anamorphic C you will have proper framing for the scope parts. With D you will have decent framing for 1.9 but not perfect (D is based on 1.78:1). So no way to make this work perfectly using JVC's modes.

The only way to make this work seamlessly would be to add something like the Lumagen or MadVR to your setup as they do auto aspect ratio handling for all aspect ratios, but that is adding another component to your setup.
