A worthwhile tweak

Until yesterday, all of my Kaleidescape Ethernet connections were made using standard Ethernet cables left over from other installations -- without any printed specs on the cables, which means probably Cat 5. I have now replaced them with Blue Jeans Cat 6 cables that cost me less than $10 each for 1.5m lengths.

What an improvement in the picture! Even my wife noted better detail and improved blacks in one of our favorite movies, which we saw last night. The sound seemed more clear, too.

To say I was surprised is an understatement -- which is why I made this post.

I'm glad you enjoyed the movie, money well spent for you. Hard to imagine what factual effects a network patch cable has on picture quality though.

I think the better network cable made the series of 1's and 0's come across in bold.

We all know that the number 10101011 and 10101011 are different, right?
