3U Power Supply

Woke up at 3am this morning to find the circuit breaker had tripped and my 3U is on that circuit.

Thought nothing of it but it now appears the 3U is completely dead :(. I changed the fuse in the plug but nothing.

Is this a common issue for 3U? It is also just out of warranty, typical!!!

No, 3U's in general are NOT prone to having these issues. In fact, amongst all of our numerous 3U sales I've never had this issue occur. Sounds like an electrical supply problem, not a 3U issue (unless I misunderstood your post). Server's can obviously be damaged by power surge and other electrical issues which is why many of us elect to use protected circuits of some type (I use Torus Power products in my system, a must for this Florida location given the number of electrical storms each year).

Extended warranties are never needed.......until they're needed. Anyway, if the 3U is damaged, the good news is it can be repaired (replaced) at a reasonable cost (the term "reasonable" in this case is relative). Contact your dealer for assistance if needed.:)

Thanks Jim

Looks like the power supply has failed and that took out the ring main.

Needs to be shipped abroad to be fixed which is more reasonable a cost that a replacement but still a little eye watering and will take a couple of weeks.

Hardest part will be telling the kids they have no films for a couple of weeks!

Bummer, but nice to know it's only a power supply.
