1u server boot - fatal error code 510007

I need to revert to the forum brains trust for advice on how to proceed with a failed server boot.

My spare 1U was occupied with 4x2TB, the last time the server ran everything was fine. I have attempted to start the server and the HDD in slots 1/3/4 all blue LED, slot 2 HDD no LED. The webUI was available and the server was in degraded mode.
I swapped HDD around so a different drive was in slot 2, rebooted the server, and the HDD in slots 1/3/4 all blue LED, slot 2 HDD no LED.
This indicated to me that there was a problem with slot 2.
I opened up the server and found that the serial ATA connector for slot 2 was loose at the motherboard end. I re-seated the connector, buttoned up the server, occupied the HDD in the slots, rebooted, and I had blue LED on 1/2/4, and no LED on the HDD in slot 3.
The server is set to DHCP and it's getting a local IP, but I can't open the webUI at this address.
I've captured a serial log of the boot, and the bit that grabs my attention is the fatal error code 51007.

I'm suspecting the server thinks there are 2 failed HDD, the one that was not detected in slot 2 during the first boot attempt, when it was operating in degraded mode. And in swapping the HDD around for fault finding I've been really unlucky and had a HDD fail, or otherwise tricked the server into thinking 2 HDD have failed.

I put these HDD in my other 1U server in the same order, booted, and again the HDD in slot 3 no LED. So this particular HDD does not appear during the boot when installed in either server.

Any idea what's gone wrong?

Try booting it with slot 3 removed, either a double disc failure or it's not finding a bootable drive for some reason. If you do get it to boot properly DO NOT put the removed drive back in.

I tried booting with slot 3 removed. Blue LED on each HDD in 1/2/4, slot 3 empty, pogo board LED amber, it's getting a network address but I can't open the webUI at that address.

When I put the HDD from slot 4 into slot 1, the HDD from slot 1 into slot 3, so 1/2/3 are occupied and 4 is empty, I don't get any HDD with blue LED (no LED at all except the pogo which remains blue).

What address did it get (and subnet mask) and what is the IP and subnet of the computer you are trying to access it from? If you got the IP address it booted properly.

It got a proper dynamic IP from the router as per the network schema. The configuration computer is on the same subnet. I can ping the server, I just can't open the WebUI. I was able to open the webUI with the first degraded boot before I started juggling HDD around in different slots.
I'm guessing the Ethernet adapter is working OK, but the web GUI stuff isn't.

Nowhere in the whole boot sequence does it report the network parameters:

I got it working!
That HDD that wouldn't power on, the blade contacts looked corroded to me. I painted them with Stabilant 22 (a mil-spec contact enhancer) and put the HDD in slot 1. Powered on the server and 4 blue LED!
The HDD in slot 3 is now rebuilding and the webUI is up.
I know what went wrong now.
At the initial boot slot 2 was dead because of the loose serial ATA connectors in the server innards, so the HDD that was in that slot was missing from the file system, and the server started in degraded mode. In swapping the HDD between slots I ended up with another HDD missing from the file system because of the dirty/corroded contacts. So I was down to 2 HDD only and no boot (interesting that it can still get an IP). Once the HDD with the rejuvenated contacts was put in slot 1, that was enough to get a boot, and the rebuild of the slot 3 HDD happening.
So all seems well.

Maintaining the health of a 1U file system is the biggest concern to me. I've had HDD pop out during boot or whilst in use several times before resulting in a HDD rebuild. Recently I was whacked with a perfect storm of something going wrong which resulted in 2 corrupted HDD in the file system. I had to send all four HDD to K for a data recovery attempt. Fortunately they were able to recover most of the data. Fortunately also that the HDD were all in-warranty, and they sent me back new drives with all of my recovered content. An OOW data recovery would have cost me over $1000 USD.
Loss of data is my concern as a 1U server owner. I can't re-import many DVD because I have no more region changes left on my player. I'd need to buy a new player to re-import much of my DVD content if the data recovery failed.
So now I will always replace HDD with new as their warranty expires.

That raises an interesting point: short of cycling through servers, is there any way to inventory what content is on what server? (similar to how you can see what vault a disc is in) It would make rebuilding/re-importing simpler.

I've asked this question before, and I think the answer was, you can't. If you have multiple servers in a group you can't tell from the unified webUI which content is on which server. You need to ungroup the servers to discover what content is on each of them.
Likewise, when importing new content to grouped servers, the operating system decides which content goes on which server (I think based on some logic of evening distribution between all of them). You can't direct which title goes to which server in the group.

The unified nature of the system means that you can't easily tell what content is where when all servers are on. But you *could* simply turn all but one server, export the content of the server to an Excel worksheet (there's a link to do that at the top of the Movies page. Repeat for each server in the system.
