Hey everyone. I have a Kaleidescape 1U server and M700 Disc Vault. It has only 1TB drives in it and one of them started developing issues a few years back and I shut the whole system down until I could afford to upgrade the drives.

So I guess that is my question. Can I afford to upgrade the drives? I have a spare 1U server to help with the replication. How much are drives these days? What are the capacities? If I upgraded to a larger drive system can I add the spare server to increase space?

I'm glad to see you guys are still around and more importantly, that my browser remembered my password because I don't.

Your best option is to get a new 4x6tb disk set (the only size available) with filesystem. If you have a spare server, you will probably be able to replicate your content to the server with the new disk set before another drive in the old set dies.

The other option is the force fail method to upgrade the drives one at a time. This is not recommended if you have 1 bad drive and feel the others are also close to failing.

The only other possible cost saving option might be to get a used disk set with smaller drives, but that has its own set of risks.

Last time I looked they were on 4tb drives.
Where can I get an idea for pricing for these 6tb drives? I would much rather do a full replication. My server got full LONG before I ran out of discs.
