‘Slow’ Terra Download Speeds

I have just upgraded from an old Strato to a Terra - the extra capacity is great and I was also looking forward to the higher download speeds. I am currently on an FTTP 150Mb/s download speed broadband package and I was going to upgrade to 330Mb/s download. My home network is full gigabit with Cisco switches and internet speed tests show 140+Mb/s download speeds.

On my old 2U Strato, I used to get 65-70Mb/s. I have been downloading various movies for the last day or so onto the new Terra and they are still being downloaded at 65-70Mb/s. I haven’t set a maximum speed limit on the Kaleidescape system.

Should the Strato also have been downloading faster than 65-70Mb/s or is that it’s typical download speed? I’m wondering if there is something else slowing down the Kaleidescape downloads.

Thank you!

For comparison, my system consists of a Strato 10TB and a Terra 40TB, and when the Terra is full, downloads to the Strato are around 150-165 Mbps. I have Gigabit internet at the house and routinely see Terra downloads in the 700-900 Mbps range.

My speeds are very much the same as Andy's with Gigabit to the house although I have different size Strato / Terra devices on the network

Thank you. Is there anyone in the UK who can comment on the download speeds they achieve?

Thanks
In the UK I am currently downloading to a 18TB terra server in UK. We have a gb’ish internet connection with BT FTTH. Downloads of HDR movies range between 10-15 mins typically. If there is a catalogue downloaded at the same time it seems to take a further 20 mins. Hope that helps.

Should have added that the ave speed during a download tends to be recorded at circa 750mbps.
If I do speed check from my pc of the available Internet speeds that tends to show circa 1gb. I just access fast.com WWW page for that which I use all the time for that sort of thing.
