    Upcoming Premier Encore Merging

I have also been sitting on the sidelines waiting for 4K. Once the integration occurs, I plan on adding several players to my home system... Matt

Question from Kaleidescape: What's your Internet speed?

In Atlanta, I am getting up to 29 MB/s down and 6 MB/s up... It is bursty but can consistently get around 20 MB/s down... The cap is 300GB... The service provider is comcast, the only service available where I live... With streaming and various other activities, I usually can download 1-2...

Add Another 1U Server Now - Or Wait?

Hey Yetis, Yes, that certainly was an interesting read. Very interesting that consumer HDD's actually were more reliable than the enterprise drives, at least in their particular use scenario. Thanks for the links. Matt

Is K showing anything new at CES 2015?

I am not that interested in streaming, as I could easily wait for a download to complete before viewing. But what would be great is a rent-with-option-to-buy feature. Of course, there are sites that will let you stream, but I would like the option to then turn that into a purchase if the movie...

    Black Friday Specials

Happy Turkey-day everyone, So, I noticed an email form our friends over at K last night and went on line to see what they had to offer... Darned if there were not some good movies that I have been wanting to add. I wound up purchasing 16 BlueRay titles to add to my ever growing...

    Rental Disc Issue

Hey Jim, Glad you said that. As blockbuster was getting ready to close stores back in the day, I purchased a bunch (15-20) DVD's from them and they had "previously rented" annotated on the disk. I got them at maybe 6-8 bucks each. Nice to know there is a way to accommodate them. This...

    Whole House A/V...

That would be cool if it is that easy... I still do not have a "control system", but that is next on my list of things to do. That being said, I would expected it would be a relatively simple tweak to the existing KOS to make that happen. In essence, it would be a "broadcast" to all listening...

    Kaleidescape To Deliver 4K

I am kind of excited to think how nice the K user interface might be in 4k. There will be a lot more pixels to play with when rendering the cover art, displaying movie particulars, etc... Matt

    Dolby Atmos

Sorry Wilson, I was reading the post on my iPhone - a bad thing to do at my age :) I saw that you mentioned "Atmos is designed to be backward-compatible with players and receivers." But looking at it on a bigger monitor, I now see you also stipulated "Atmos-capable" in another sentence...

    Dolby Atmos

I am not sure the last post was 100% accurate. For a receiver or pre/pro to be capable of decoding this new format, that processor must be capable of implementing the new algorithms required by atoms. Only receivers or pre/pro's that specify they are ATMOS compatible will be able to implement...

A few more hours and I will finally own a K-system

Hello Marc, I warn you, it's a slippery slope... Maybe 7 years ago, we went to a local A/V retailer and they had a complete K system operating in one of their home-theater rooms. I remember being blown away and thinking one of these day, “I have got to get me one of these”… Shortly after...

    Whole House A/V...

Hi Kevin, So, that' what you meant with that one sentence :) Autocorrect is evil some times... So, I just got a call from ZeeVee and sure enough, they confirmed that the 820/810 are HDCP complient, and thus will not pass the HDCP protected HDMI content downstream. I guess it's the...

    Whole House A/V...

Hey everyone, Thanks for all of the responses. There are some good ideas there... I was aware of HDBaseT but had not thought of that as a solution for my predicament… First off, most of the mainstream A/V gear has yet to start supporting HDBaseT… Not a single TV that I own (maybe 10 in...

    Whole House A/V...

Hey everyone, I have a question on trying to establish a whole house A/V solution and am curious if anyone has found a solution that works well. In a life long past, my wife and I used to play in a very "local" rock band, and really enjoyed the time spent. That was perhaps 20 years ago...

    DVD CCA appeal "settled"?

I personally think this is really good news... With what seemed to have been endless legal problems now behind them, Kaleidescape should now have more time and money to devote to future product development... I for one would love to see UHD sooner, and possible even a more high end Music CD...
