Kaleidescape Complete System (3U) for sale

FOR SALE: Kaleidescape Complete System (3U) I'm going to sell my complete system which consists of: KSERVER-5000 (3U) server with 8 x 4TB disks loaded. This was purchased new about 4 years ago and was an "upgrade" from the earlier system I had. It is "grandfathered" in so can import DVDs. I...

    Complete Kaleidescape System for sale

I have a complete Kaleidescape System for sale. I am located in Washington state, and would prefer a local buyer, but I will ship if necessary (seller pays for shipping/insurance). All components are out of warranty. Although the components (to my understanding) are eligible for the server...

    The Kaleidescape-owner's dilemma

I have had a Kaleidescape system for 5+ years or so now, and I?ve loved it to pieces. I?ve made a few upgrades along the way, and I?ve got 8TB of storage, 2x1080p players and 2x1080p mini-players. K?scape have made great improvements to their system over the years, but I?m very disappointed that...

    Bad Imports

I imported a disc that was probably scratched-up pretty bad. One of the selling features (or "value propositions" if you're into synergistic symbioses and other silly buzzwords) were preventing the "ankle-biters" from ruining any more DVDs. Anyway, it *eventually* imported without any error...

    Transfer capability

I'd love to see the capability to transfer content to an iPod. For copyright issues, maybe a "check out to iPod" would be necessary ... but if I were going on a business trip or something, it would be lovely to be able to transfer 4 or 5 movies to an iPod, and then "check them back in" upon my...

    Transcoding request

I'm all for quality and "lossless" ... up to a point. For me, it would irk me to think that 6.7GB per DVD were spent on each "Fawlty Towers" or "Monty Python" disc -- the quality of the source simply doesn't warrant that much storage. Similarly, to know that 80GB is necessary to store the...

    Questions regarding pricing and alternatives

I've lusted after the K system for at least 18 months or so. I've been waiting for the price to come crashing down, or more reasonably priced alternatives to become available. I'm getting impatient in my wait, and might just have to spring for it; price be damned. My friend has acquired one...
