KServer-1500 issues

Hi everyone, I'm new to the Kaleidescape environment and coming into it with second hand equipment!

I recently (in the last couple of week)purchased a setup second hand on eBay and was delivered the equipment. The equipment purchased was a KServer-1500, D700 Disc Vault and 2x M300 players

On setting up the server, drive bay number 4 did not appear seated correctly and so I removed the drive, checked it was not damaged and reinserted it. This has obviously initiated a drive rebuild. The system then works fine until the server rebuild hits approximately 12-13% when the server crashes and loses network connection with the remaining devices.

Up until the rebuild crashes, there appears to be full functionality of the devices, however it will obviously not add anything to the library until it is rebuilt.

Once the rebuild has hit 12-13% the server flashes amber and blue, with network connection lights on the LAN port working, indicating a DHCP fault. I have tried reserved addresses as well as static ip’s on 2 different modem routers however the issue remains which leads me to believe that this is a power supply or other hardware issue. I've attached the system log below!

The bay seller is working with me to troubleshoot but what are all of your thoughts on the issue

Thanks in advance!

Reach out to Kaleidescape support. They can see if any of the drives reported bad sectors. RAID5 is pretty taxing on HDD during rebuilds. It might be a failing HDD.

Thanks, what's the likelihood that they will assist, given this is a legacy product?
Very likely.
They have always helped me with my Premiere components.
Just make sure it's connected to the internet and you have the serial number ready.

There is some type of hardware failure, potentially the disk in slot 3, but K support will be able to confirm and tell you what (if anything) can be done to fix it. If the rebuild is stalling (because one or more disks is failing), then it is not unusual that the server cannot boot (and won't attach to the network).

Good luck,
Andy
