Popcorn Ready - Chrome extension for Kaleidescape users

This would be great if you had the ability and time to do so. Popcorn Ready still has significantly better sorting ability when searching for a movie to watch. It would also make it super easy to airplay to an ATV so everyone can see movie options on the big screen without needing my laptop. I don't know what other's situations are but I have ~500 movies and a stand alone V so no easy way for the family/friends to gather in front of the big screen and scroll through movie options. I would think with the now lower cost players but still very expensive servers my situation would not be uncommon.
This is interesting. What is your workflow like today for your example of browsing your library with family/friends and then downloading and playing it?

Before we had K we would often scroll through our Plex library, most commonly on the living room system, and sometimes watch trailers so the kids can get a sense of the movie. We may do this on some streaming platforms as well looking for content. Then we would head down to the basement theater. Sometimes it can take a while for everyone to agree on something so I don’t like wasting laser time.

With now most of our content now on K (but not downloaded) it’s a little harder. I do have the theater Strato V also outputting to our living room system. The movie wall for the onscreen GUI is randomly sorted so mostly useless. Sometimes I’ll just use the K-scape app on my phone and make suggestions to the family. I can also airplay the app from my phone or airplay Popcorn Ready from my MacBook to the ATV in the living room. Basically I’m still trying to figure out the best way but Popcorn Ready with a native iPhone or iPad app may the best way to do it.

How do others with a large collection but no server pick movies with family/friends?

Now that I think about it an Apple TV app would be even better. Of course I could just be old school and now everyone picks from their mobile device or computer. I still like scrolling on the big screen and my family seems to prefer that too.

An Apple TV app wouldn’t make much sense for most use cases like starting or controlling playback.

Most likely next step would be an iOS and Android app if I can add any value there.

I just pdated the helper to 3.0.6. I still got the Windows security warning during installation and still no luck identifying the two scenes in Greatest Showman I posted above.
I´m suspecting it might not be related to the starting time, but a different issue?

Hmmm, very strange. I had created a greatest Showman scene very similar to yours and it worked here. Would it be possible for you to put that scene in a script and export the script and share it? I can DM you my email address if you don’t want to post it here.

Did the security warning have any details?

Sure. See attached. It´s just the first entry.

I didn´t read the details. It´s just the blue warning window you always get when you try to run an .exe file downloaded via browser.

This is strange. I have nearly all of these movies downloaded in 4K HDR10 yet the only thing this script is importing for me is the command at the end. Possibly this is because you're in Germany so the movie files are different and don't match mine in USA.

It´s all US-titles.
I believe the issue with the scenes is that these are all user defined scenes your system doesn´t know anything about. However, it should recognize the cover art.

Usually when importing a script it also creates the user defined scenes.

I guess we could try going down to the actual scene level. You could try exporting just this one scene from Greatest Showman and I can try importing the scene directly.

Thanks for trying, but no luck. There must be something different about our 4K HDR files for Greatest Showman.

"This list does not contain any scenes from movies that are in the library of this Kaleidescape System. Please import some of these movies first or choose another list of scenes."

OK, let me just create the scenes again for this movie. Seems to be something wrong with it.

Version 3.1.0 was just posted to Chrome Web Store with support for the new 4K Cinematic and 8K video formats including filtering the Kaleidescape catalog for these formats.

I'm seeing 170 movies and 3 TV Seasons so far in 4K Cinematic.

@OUTATIME you've saved all my Scenes from Update-mageddon! And my scripts are 95% functional as well even through the 4K Cinematic conversion! Where's your tip jar at??

Wow, I hadn't even thought about the crazy timing of releasing the scene shot list and script writer features right before the 4K Cinematic release by Kaleidescape. But you are correct in that both of these features could be really helpful for power users to recreate their user scenes in the new video format and keep their scripts working with the new video format as well.

I'm glad that it was useful for you! Cheers!

Is there a link within the extension menu to download the latest version of the helper app? I thought there was initially when I installed it but don't see anything now.

The link should only show up if you don’t already have the latest version. Are you having an issue? Does it say that the helper is ready?
